Lansing was born in 1859. He is the son of Sanford Van Deusen and Cornelia Broadhead.
Operated a drug store in Washington Heights, NYC until around 1889, when he moved back to Kingston. Then, operated a grocery store on Lower Broadway, opposite Mill St
